Christ stands at the center of the image, lovingly cradling an infant, who represents the soul of the Virgin Mary. Christ's disciples and angels look on. One white-clad angel, standing on the right side of the painting, holds up a thurible and puffs his cheeks, blowing incense towards the Virgin's body.
